Please feel free to post you own comments about your bag experiences. Thanks for choosing CourierWare!

    Hey Eric,
You recently did a very custom medium walking-bag order for me. I had to stop by and tell you that it is the greatest bag EVER.
The craftsmanship is amazing, the dimensions perfect. It goes everywhere with me.
    I can’t thank you enough!

After experiencing many other brands of messenger bags, with their ever-increasing features and gimmicks, I am pleased to have found a simple, well thought out bag. I don’t need removable reflectors, seat belt buckles or other dangly bits. I have always hated the fastex cam buckles on other bags which always open up on you at the least convenient moment. The slider shoulder strap is perfect for me. Those shopping for the Messenger bag should take note of a detail which does not appear on the CourierWare web site… the removable waist strap is an additional charge, but the bag does come with d-rings for attaching the strap. One could fabricate their own or salvage one off another bag. My previous other brands of bags were too big or too small… I chose the Medium messenger as it was a perfect in between size for me, although the bag measures 11 inches deep, not 12 inches as specified on the web site. This is the most comfortable bag I have worn… it finds my body’s contours and nestles there much better than other brands. It shall go everywhere with me. Rockin’ purple bag, mate!

I purchased my first Courierware bag at the Mass Army Navy in Harvard Square nearly 15 years ago, a Large Basic. The straps a little frayed and the logo is faded, but the bag is solid as the day it was made and I have no doubt it will give me another 15 years if not an entire lifetime of use.

Hey there, I am looking to buy myself a very nice messenger bag for Christmas. I’m looking in the 750-850 cu. range, so that would be the small from CourierWare.

I have 2 questions — one, can anyone describe the buckle on this thing to me? Is it anything like the ones from Timbuk2 that I am not a fan of? and so on. I couldn’t find a good picture anywhere.

Second, do you find that if you have your bag outside in the rain that rain gets into the bag? I read a review saying that despite the waterproof lining the bag is not even almost sealed when closed, and that there are two “holes” on either side of the flap where water just pours into the bag.

Thanks! I can’t wait to buy one assuming it seems like a good purchase.

Mary, sorry in the delay in answering you. I had a problem with access to the blog.
Our small size is 762 cubic inches. You can click on the visual description of the sizes next to the main picture of the courier bag, highlighted as “6 sizes.”
Our buckles are different than Timbuk2. We have two options: metal droop jaw, and black plastic “slider”.
The drop jaw buckle is harder to see in the photos, but it is ideal for a bag that needs to adjusted regularly (daily) to accommodate changing load sizes (as couriers encounter). The slider is low profile, black and adjusts, but not as quickly as the drip jaw, and leaves not “tail.” You can see a close up of it when you go down the list of “customizations”
Waterproofing: The edge where the bag comes together can create a tiny space, but the bag is ergonomically designed so that when it is “worn” on the back, the space has to close. That was probably the Macnnn review where they did not test drive the bag, just reviewed it from their desk. If it turns out the bag you have purchased “leaks” you can return it for a full refund.

    Thanks, Diana

Just wanted to say hi after all these years. I still have my Medium, 21 years and going strong except a cracked buckle from a trip through the washer. You customized the pockets for me back at the Columbia St, Cambridge workshop, so I could stick a newspaper and a U-lock in the back without getting my papers dirty. Wish I’d got a Large, but at the time I never imagined a “laptop” would ever be small enough for me to carry around. The bag has lasted longer than my old bike!

  • admin Says:

Hi Martha, the buckle can be replaced if necessary. The custom pocket you ordered 21 years ago is now a standard feature in all Deluxe and Super-Deluxe bags. Our sizing has changed to accommodate laptops. Thanks for your comments.
